We don't know about you, but we found Justin's press conference last night bizarre.
He was standing there as our prime minister but there's no government in session. And while he's talking, all we thought of was he's gone in a month. In other words, he's a lame duck. Trump knows this and said perhaps these tariffs will be re-negotiated in March - after Justin is gone.
Parliament is not sitting so all decisions are being made by a few people who will most likely not be re-elected.
Justin kept saying we are in this together yet he has yet to speak to any of the leaders of the other parties. Buddy, we need the participation of all leaders of all parties. Alas, with parliament shut down, Justin can do what he wants and he is choosing not to speak to them.
One of the things our government can do to get us through this time as per Poilievre: Bring free trade within Canada by eliminating interprovincial barriers.
Why these barriers are there in the first place makes no sense. That we can't buy from Ontario - a province in Canada - without the possibility of getting fined is absurd.
Another idea from Poilievre: Scrap the Liberal anti-resource law, Bill C-69 now. Greenlight LNG plans, pipelines, mines, factories, and port expansions to overseas markets immediately.
In other words, stop saving the turtles and start mining the resources we have.
We saw that there is a buy Canadian website. Are you kidding? We're going to stand in a supermarket and start checking labels? That's the same idiotic idea as boycotting Amazon.
As an aside, we might consider boycotting Amazon and tried quite a few times to shop in stores in our area for what we needed. It was an excercise in frustration. Many, many items are simply not available. We would then go home and in less than a minute our item was ordered on Amazon - with choices. But we digress.
We are guessing that Trump doesn't believe that Canada will take care of the border situation as Justin never came through with any of his promises, our lack of payments to NATO being an example.
On top of all of this is the fact that Justin twice diminished Trump publicly. That was the most dufus move possible and we are all now taking the hit for that.

A final note on the tariffs being imposed on Canada and Mexico: Most people living in the US don't know what's going in beyond a few blocks of their homes.
If the price of gas suddenly increases, perhaps they will notice what's happening. There are certainly enough choices in the US stores for people to change what brands they buy.
It will be Canadian manufacturers sending their goods into the US that will get really hurt. They are caught between a rock and a hard place.
If they don't adjust their prices, their goods are now 25% more for Americans. If they do adjust the prices before they enter the US to cushion the blow of the increase, then when this is over, their buyers will balk if they try to go back to the old price.
We are sitting ducks thanks to ten years of Justin's impotent government.
We'll talk...
We are listening to Chrystia Freeland being interviewed on a news show. OMG. She speaking v.e.r.y, v.e.r.y. s.l.o.w.l.y so she doesn't come off as the I-know-what's-good-for-you she is. She is a lot smarter than Kamala Harris but she is horrible in an interview. Clearly her handlers told her not to sound arrogant. She obviously is having a very hard time doing that ergo she is sounding like an idiot.
Doesn't matter. Her ship sailed. She has as little chance of becoming prime minister as there is of a snowstorm in July. In other words, none.
