The adage be careful what you wish for is front and center with the collapse of the vicious Assad regime in Syria.
Right now the defacto leader is an ex-isis terrorist who said he has reformed. All he wants to do is calm things down in Syria and then create a normal government giving the country and perforce the population an infrastructure.
Peeps - take that with a grain of salt. While he indeed may have personally reformed many of the other many tribes vying for power have not. In that world if someone from one tribe killed someone else's brother's sister's father from another tribe, those two tribes will be forever at war.
Revenge goes back and forth indefinitely. Those people are far from being able to create a stable government anywhere.
Multiple rebel groups - some still part of isis - are running around Syria now vying for the prize of governing the country. Every country - it seems including Russia - are staying out of this mess, waiting for the dust to settle to see who comes out the winner.
We must make a clarification of something we wrote about a week ago.
In that blog we said that the Jews are not sheep and will fight the antisemitism that has taken hold of our country and the world.
The clarification is that in every generation Jews did not cower. They fought to preserve the Jewish nation. We can start with the Maccabees during the holiday of Chanukah. They were overwhelmingly outnumbered both in manpower and weapons. Yet they fought and won.
Esther in the story of Purim is another heroine who risked her life to save the Jews of that time.
During the Holocaust, the partisans saved tens of thousands of people, risking their lives daily for years.
Our generation stands on the shoulders of these brave Jews. And as they in those generations did - we will do the same.
Those who think they can wear us down, should do some reading of the long history of the Jewish people. Look where those who tried to destroy the Jews are and look at where the Jews of today are.
Someone should send this little ditty to Justin and Melanie Joly. They clearly have zero knowledge of the history of the Jews. One has to wonder how they got to the positions they are in knowing virtually nothing except what is fed to them. The word leadership is a huge misnomer in Canada and Montreal.
The guy who shot and killed the CEO of United Healthcare has eluded capture. We read something yesterday that we found disturbing.
Blanche, did you know that many internet geeks are able to help the police track down criminals? We're guessing they use the underground internet and have contacts that the police can only dream about.
Given that, many have decided not to help the police find this killer. Why? Because it appears that insurance companies are being very nasty to the little peeps making them grovel for a claim - if they give it at all.
Ergo, many internet trollers are viewing this killer as a sort of Robin Hood.
We live in a society of laws. If not, society would break down and we would be left with total chaos. We saw a glimpse of that when Seattle and other 'refuge cities' defunded their police. Looting was rampant and law and order slowly started breaking down. It took a bit of time, but everyone woke up and realized the error of their ways.
No matter how upset this dude was with insurance companies, he has no right to shoot a man in the back, then again and then to make sure he did the job, shoot him again. That is dead wrong - pardon the pun. As are the internet trollers not helping the police find this guy.
We'll talk...
