So Trump finally signed an executive order that will stop some of the detractors. No more separating children from parents who illegally try to enter the US. He didn’t explain how they were going to reunite the children presently separated from their parents, but that will come. Here’s what we want to know:
Where are the marchers? Where are the protests? Where are bleeding heart Hollywood liberals? Why are they completely silent? Where are those who put together the March for our Lives Rally like George and Amal Clooney, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw and Oprah Winfrey, all of whom pledged $500,000 each for that rally.
Blanche, what exactly do you think this means? Here’s one suggestion: While sad, this is not a cool issue. Poor families from Honduras who can’t speak English are not cool. If they were, all the ‘important’ people would be hiring buses to go to the shelters where these kids are being held and holding vigils with candles.
While we don’t like what Trump did, we are getting the feeling that this whole thing is a massive set-up by those who will literally move heaven and earth to get rid of him. Again we say, shame on everyone.
We don’t usually send our readers to another site, but today we will send you to another site (of course after you finish reading Blanche). There’s a great article entitled Dairy Cartel Has Politicians in its Pocket. Here’s the heart of the matter:
The milk, egg and chicken (yes that’s also part of this), cartel wants us to believe that it cannot compete with producers in other countries, while Canadian grain, oilseed, hogs and other farmers are exposed to world prices all the time. The impression it leaves, as the monopoly attracts rare general media attention, is that the dairy and poultry farmers do not feel like competing with anyone. As long as the entire political establishment is with them, why should they?
And that political establishment includes all leaders of all parties: prime minister Justin Trudeau, Andrew Scheer and our personal favourite, Jagmeet Singh (in case you didn’t know, leader of the NDP) who tweeted the following recently: Canadian dairy farmers are worried & face uncertainty following Trudeau’s talk of #NAFTA concessions. I think about the farmers I’ve met in places like Essex, who need to know their govt has their back right now. We must stand firm with #CDNDairy & stand up to Trump’s attacks
In this case, sorry to say they are all full of it but Singh wins the prize.
Quebec Health Minister Gaetan Barrette is a rabid pit bull. Why Couillard ever kept him is beyond our comprehension. Our guess is that Barrette has something on Couillard. Given that, Barrette took a huge bite out of the Indigenous people today.
He said that within six months there will be at least one case of an indigenous person who will not be allowed to board an air ambulance plane because they are agitated, drugged or under the influence. Barrette said of course that he is profoundly sorry, but that the comments were misunderstood. He insists they were about air travel in general and not a direct reference to Indigenous communities. Arf. Arf.
More on the immigration issue in the US. A poll was released today. Best be sitting when you read this: Rasmussen Reports released on Wednesday showed that the majority of Americans blame illegal immigrant parents who bring their kids with them while illegally entering the United States for the current media-driven border separation issue.
Rasmussen Reports notes: When families are arrested and separated after attempting to enter the United States illegally, 54% of likely U.S. Voters say the parents are more to blame for breaking the law. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 35% believe the federal government is more to blame for enforcing the law.
The survey found that 82% of Republicans and 56% of non-affiliated voters believe that the illegal immigrant parents are to blame because they are breaking the law, whereas 60% of Democrats feel that the government is to blame for enforcing the law.
Don’t shoot the messenger. This is most likely the reason that Americans are not protesting in the streets.
Looks like the party’s over for online shopping. States will be able to force more people to pay sales tax when they make online purchases under a Supreme Court decision issued today. Before the December shopping days, expect to see more and more online stores, like Macy’s, start charging you sales tax.
Good Shabbos We’ll talk…
